Every year when the holidays approach the city of Calgary rallies together to give back to its community. Being a girl from the good ole south, this warms my heart and is partly why living here for the last 12 years is home to me. I never imagined that any northern city above that Mason Dixon line could give us southerners a run for our hospitality but y’all sure have. Calgary you sure are swell.
Another one of my favourite parts of the holiday season, is how many amazing local shops we have and how proud we are to support them whenever we can. So, I created a list of my favourite local shops that I personally frequent and I think you will love them, if you don’t already. Finally, sharing just how amazing our city is and how talented our artisans are is not enough for me so I’m going to challenge y’all a bit. I want to give back, alongside all the vendors mentioned below to a deserving Calgary family who has had a crappy 2019. Today I will be opening nominations to one family to win a basket full of goodies they can enjoy over the holidays and bring in the new year knowing they are a part of greater, supportive community.
Once all the nominations are received and reviewed, myself and three other calgary community leaders will decide who it will be and we will share their story with you all. As we lift up each other, we lift ourselves. May we all remember how lucky we are to be a community who cares for its people not just when times are good but especially when times get hard too.

Please submit to hello@cdsweddings.com for someone you know to be considered for our Calgary family giveaway nomination. Deadline to submit is Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 12pm. All entries need to reside in the greater Calgary area, be a family of two or more, be ok with sharing their story on social media and online via my blog and website, the winner will receive the entire gift basket including a full family portrait session in the spring of 2020 and the nominee of the winning family will receive a mini portrait session for free in the spring of 2020.
